
Abu Dhabi Awards Hosts A Unified Bowling Competition With Abu Dhabi Awards Recipients, In Cooperation With Special Olympics UAE
• The Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee announced a friendly, unified bowling competition, with the participation of past recipients of the Abu Dhabi Awards and the UAE Special Olympics champions.
• Held at the Khalifa International Bowling Centre in Zayed Sports City, 20 people of determination took part in the unified bowling competition.
• The event further enhanced awareness of the importance of the Abu Dhabi Awards and was an opportunity for people of determination to submit nominations of their heroes who they identified as worthy of an Abu Dhabi Award – the emirate’s highest civilian honour.
Abu Dhabi, 29 September 2022: The Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee, in cooperation with Special Olympics UAE and Flash Entertainment, held a unified bowling competition yesterday with 10 teams participating. The sporting event aimed to empower people of determination and encourage them to nominate individuals who embody the values of the Abu Dhabi Awards.
The event was held at the Khalifa International Bowling Center in Zayed Sports City, with 50 participants, including government officials, former recipients of the Abu Dhabi Awards, and the Special Olympics UAE champions. The event also welcomed members of the Emirati Children’s Parliament, as well as members of the Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee, in a collective effort to enhance the participation of people of determination in community initiatives, further develop social cohesion and inclusion, and represent the positive values embodied by the Abu Dhabi Awards.
The Abu Dhabi Awards is the emirate's highest civilian honour, recognising those who have dedicated their time and effort to serving the UAE community and making a positive impact. This year's edition is held under the theme 'Who represents goodness to you?” and looks to inspire community members and encourage them to nominate individuals who embody the values of the Abu Dhabi Awards.

Al Ameri added: 'The match brought together people of determination and community members in a distinctive event that furthered awareness of the importance of the Abu Dhabi Awards, while encouraging participants to identify unsung heroes within their families and social groups and nominate them for the Abu Dhabi Awards”.
Fatma Ibrahim Al Musallami, Strategic and Projects Director at Special Olympics UAE said: 'We are honoured to cooperate with the Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee in hosting this unified bowling competition, in which the UAE Special Olympics players participated. The aim was to promote the concept of social inclusion and community cohesion, and we believe that sports provide the best way to develop the skills of people of determination and facilitating their engagement with members of the community.
She added, 'The competition provides an opportunity for people of determination to identify and recognise key community members, by submitting their nominations for the Abu Dhabi Awards.'

Since its inception, the Abu Dhabi Awards has garnered more than a quarter of a million nominations, representing different nationalities. Previous award recipients have made valuable contributions in a myriad of fields including healthcare, education, environment as well as the preservation of the UAE and Abu Dhabi heritage.
The Abu Dhabi Awards honours individuals who have made valuable and significant contributions to the community of the UAE, regardless of age, nationality, or profession, adopting the only condition that must be met by candidates, which is their good deeds.
Nominations are open until the 10th of October and can be submitted by visiting the Abu Dhabi Awards website.
