Abu Dhabi, UAE - 3, November 2022: The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has concluded its participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2022), which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from 31 October to 3 November.
MoIAT’s participation in the event was in line with the objectives of the national industrial strategy to create an attractive business environment for local and international industrial investors, support the growth of national industries, and enhance competitiveness.

The ministry’s participation also showcased the UAE’s competitive advantages to an international audience and introduced delegates to the investment opportunities, incentives and enablers available through the Make it in the Emirates campaign. ADIPEC also provided a platform to strengthen partnerships and collaborations between industrial companies from around the world.

The First Wave of Technology Projects
During ADIPEC, MoIAT announced the launch of the first 13 of 1,000 technology projects that will be implemented under the recently announced Technology Transformation Program. These are the first wave of projects that will continue to be announced until the end of 2031.
The new projects are being executed by major national and international champions, such as Etisalat (e&), Cisco, PTC, Oryx Data, and One Moto. The companies are proactively accelerating the pace of technological transformations across priority sectors, contributing to the development of a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. The program will attract major international companies to test innovations in the country’s supportive environment.

The Smart Manufacturing Strategic Conference
The ministry also hosted the Smart Manufacturing Strategic Conference on the sidelines of ADIPEC. The conference provided a platform for the manufacturing industry to foster discussions around industrial growth and to identify the challenges and opportunities for manufacturing. There were also discussions around how Fourth Industrial Revolution applications and advanced technology solutions can be leveraged in the industrial sector to help achieve national goals and promote more sustainable production.

Smart Manufacturing Zone
The ministry hosted a Smart Manufacturing Zone under the Make it in the Emirates campaign at ADIPEC. Here, delegates learned about a wide range of technologies and digital solutions that are disrupting production models and shaping the future of the industrial sector. Some of these solutions included: the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, nanotechnology, automation, robotics, lasers, and smart materials.

Meeting with Investors
The ministry also held several meetings with investors with the aim of presenting industrial and technological opportunities in the UAE. MoIAT brought together leading local, regional, and international manufacturers and decision-makers in the energy industry. Delegates tackled topics such as the development of smart manufacturing and how it relates to sustainable growth and policies, frameworks and strategies that drive change, such as Operation 300 Billion, which aims to position the UAE as a global hub for industries of the future.

Business Roundtables
The ministry hosted business roundtables with companies from the UK, Germany, France, and others to showcase the Make it in the Emirates campaign and the various investment opportunities in the UAE’s industrial sector. These roundtables aimed to build connections with foreign companies through discussions about the industrial sector, digital transformations, and energy.

Memoranda of Understanding
Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed during ADIPEC between MoIAT and other parties. The MoUs aim to support industrial growth, economic diversification and cooperation towards accelerating digital transformations. Some of the most notable MoUs were signed by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to provide incentives and enablers to boost the industrial sector.

Youth Circle
A youth circle, organized by MoIAT’s Youth Council, was held at ADIPEC 2022. It revolved around the Make it in the Emirates.
Her Excellency Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology participated in the circle along with a group of young talents from the Federal Youth Authority, Technology Innovation Institute, Emirates Global Aluminum, EDGE Group, and G42. The aim was to present the objectives of the Make it in the Emirates campaign. It also showcased the importance of inviting investors, industrialists, and innovators to participate in the growth of the industrial sector while benefitting from competitive advantages to boost exports and the competitiveness of their products.

The Youth Circle was hosted with the goal of giving young people an opportunity to share their thoughts, opinions, and aspirations through a discussion with key decision makers. In addition to highlighting MoIAT’s positive impact on the UAE’s economy, the session was a platform for young people to present ideas to facilitate industrialization through the adoption of advanced technology.

His Excellency Omar Al-Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and a number of officials from MoIAT, visited several pavilions of the countries participating in the exhibition, including the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Italy and Russia. Officials were briefed on the experiences of these countries in the fields of energy and industry in line with ADIPEC’s efforts to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
