Abu Dhabi, November 22, 2022:  Following an extensive nine-month renovation, the new Abu Dhabi space is a visual tale of timeless elegance and contemporary sophistication, honouring Cartier’s historic ties with the city of arts and culture. From 1912, when Jacques Cartier’s first trip to the Gulf sparked a special bond with the region, the Maison’s creations have been inspired by local fauna, flora and cultural patrimony. Today, this exceptional relationship continues to flourish as the new boutique’s mesmerising universe intertwines local emblems with the Maison’s iconic staples. 

The sophisticated redesign led by Bruno Moinard, unveils a modern vision of warm hues, elaborate textures, and exceptional craftsmanship, where worlds and cultures mingle to offer visitors a uniquely local experience. 

Abu Dhabi’s metamorphosed boutique also celebrates the Maison’s long-standing link to UAE’s capital and its patronship of the arts. “Building cultural bridges with an ever-evolving spirit of innovation is a common thread running through both Cartier and the city of Abu Dhabi’s philosophy,” said Caroline Dumont Frotiee, Managing Director Cartier UAE. “With this inauguration, we express our pride and gratitude for our shared cultural heritage, hospitality traditions and support of the arts.” 
 
Commissioned for the occasion, a large scale mosaic (368 x 260 cm) results from a collaboration between lacquer-making masters Atelier Midavaine and the mosaic specialist Mathilde Jonquière. The elaborate panel serves as the backdrop of a captivating tale — amidst golden-hued sand dunes, two horses graze on the shore of an oasis, while a falcon glides through the skies. Surrounded by lush foliage, the iconic Cartier panthere quenches its thirst on the adjacent shore. 

“We can truly see and feel the Maison’s history, style and love for craftsmanship blend with the region’s patrimony in this new space,” said Caroline Dumont Frotiee. “The journey we have designed  is warm and welcoming, yet very intimate, which promises to leave our visitors with an exquisite boutique experience.”
