• Shamma Al Mazrouei: We are committed with our partners to nurturing, supporting and empowering young cadres working in the fields of development

Abu Dhabi, UAE: 15 December 2022 - The Arab Youth Center, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program, graduated members of the first batch of members of the Youth Envoys for Development Program in the Arab Region, after the successful expansion of the program to include three new Arab countries, with the aim of supporting the economic, social and human development paths in line with
The Arab Youth Center and the United Nations Development Program signed the agreement to launch the second edition of the Youth Envoys for Development Program last March during the 'Arab Meeting of Young Leaders', in order to double the empowerment of young people in the Arab countries and develop their skills and practical experience in development disciplines.

This version of the program witnessed the appointment of a group of Arab youth in the offices of the United Nations Development Program in 13 Arab countries, to be envoys for development in their societies and countries, in addition to training their young peers later in the various development work skills they have acquired to achieve qualitative development leaps.
Shamma Al Mazrouei: Arab Youth Center is focused on continuous youth empowerment through skills building and opportunities.

This program is a way to provide opportunities for Arab youth to take on greater responsibilities and, through these real-world experiences, to build competencies and develop their skills.

What I love about this program is that fosters a feeling of connectedness and belonging, helping these youth to develop their sense of identity. The experience of contributing to a cause, a decision, and/or a group  in the UNDP can be crucial part to the development of sense of responsibility, purpose and self-worth for these youth.
AYC continues to believe in the importance of engaging young people as key informants in the design and development of new programs intended to benefit them.

The Program combines Creativity and innovation… Both Innovation and Creativity are stimulated by challenging youth to take on clear tasks and then providing the coaching needed along the way as obstacles or unexpected results are encountered.
Khalid Abdul Shafi: We continue to work to with train young people on addressing challenges and implementing best practices to empower youth in the Arab region. in development work in partnership with United Nations programs.

The event was organized at the Center’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Regional Center, represented by H.E. Khalid Abdul Shafi, Director Manager of the Regional Center for Arab States at the United Nations Development Program, and Her Excellency Dr. Dina Assaf, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the United Arab Emirates.

In this context, His Excellency Khalid Abdul Shafi said: 'The sponsorship of the Arab Youth Center for development envoys through the United Nations offices reflected positively on the level of youth participation and empowerment in the development work sector, and put youth at the center of influence and interaction with field projects to serve communities and contribute to supporting their peers through the transfer of experience, knowledge exchange and training and improve.

His Excellency added: 'We will continue to train young people on the best practices of development work in partnership with United Nations programs, and we will build on the gains of previous experience in order to maximize the benefit and impact of the first version of the program, which succeeded in overcoming many challenges, especially the consequences of the Corona epidemic, which enables young people to turn its challenges into opportunities to continue”

Quality opportunities for young people
The Programme of Youth Envoys for Development in the Arab Region, in partnership between the Arab Youth Centre and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), provides quality opportunities for elite young people, keen to accelerate the development of their Arab societies and align its course with the Sustainable Development Goals, to work for two years in the UNDP office in their countries.

Expand
After the first batch of the Youth Envoys for Development program included 10 Arab countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Djibouti, Palestine, Somalia, Syria, and Tunisia, the second edition of the program expanded to include three new Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Algeria, and to become young trainees in the program distributed to work in UNDP offices in 13 Arab countries.

Grass for the future
Through the Youth Envoys for Development Program in the Arab Region, the Arab Youth Center aims to provide support to young people in the Arab region by investing in their potential to achieve the sustainable development goals in their countries, informing Arab youth about the frameworks of the United Nations, in addition to providing the opportunity for young envoys to build communication and partnership relations with their colleagues in the program in various Arab
