Scopa Military Industries partners with World Defense Show 2024
The partnership will support the event’s contribution to the localization of 50 percent of domestic defense equipment and services expenditure by 2030
23 February 2023: Scopa Military Industries and World Defense Show (WDS) have signed an agreement that will see Scopa become a “Headline Partner” in the biennial global defense event, to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 4-8 February 2024.
The agreement was signed by Andrew Pearcey Chief Executive Officer, World Defense Show, and Fawaz Alaqeel CEO of Defense and Security Group at Scopa, at the stand of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), founder of World Defense show, in the Saudi Arabian pavilion at IDEX 2023.
Speaking at the event, Pearcey expressed his delight at welcoming Scopa as a Headline Partner of WDS 2024, the second edition of the event stating: “WDS 2024 aims to create partnerships between global players in the military, security and defense sectors and those in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, across all domains. This industry-wide connection and collaboration helps us to fulfil our mandate to organize the best defense exhibition in the world.”
He added: “The addition of Scopa as a Headline Partner supports that goal. The company’s role in providing representation of industry-leading, innovative services from a wide array of defense sectors aligns with our aim to support the development of the defense and security industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Alaqeel was pleased to announce the company’s partnership with WDS, commenting: “Scopa will join WDS in its efforts to support localization of the technologies related to the military, security and defense industries. Together we will work towards the national goal to diversify the local economy and provide a range of new job opportunities associated with these vast industries.
Alaqeel pointed to the success of the inaugural edition of WDS in 2022, as proof of the importance of localizing the military industry to both the private and public sectors in the Kingdom. He said: “This event more than achieved its aims for the economy, national security and the public interest. We are expecting more success during the second edition of WDS in 2024.”
